Admission Director’s Welcome
Dear Students and Parents,
Greetings!
As the Admissions Director and a St. Elizabeth High School alumnus, I am delighted that you are considering SEHS as your next step in education. I welcome the opportunity to share the story of St. E with you and your family. SEHS is a Catholic, private, co-educational, college preparatory school for young men and women, grades 9 to 12. Located in the City of Wilmington since 1940, the school has sought to serve the academic needs of students from Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Our close-knit community of students, parents, and faculty fosters an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere. Students are challenged to achieve academic excellence in a modern, technology-driven environment that is instilled with traditional values and morals. Above all else, St. Elizabeth High School is guided by the Rule of St. Benedict, “That in all things, God may be glorified.”
At SEHS, our focus is the Viking student. Our campus abounds with unique and exciting opportunities from which students can benefit in a variety of ways. Students are challenged to strive for academic excellence by learning and applying 21st century skills in the daily curriculum. Vikings show their genuine concern for others through countless community fundraisers and service activities. The recently renovated Benedictine Performing Arts Center is home to those students with a flair for the stage as they perform in musical reviews and the annual variety show. All students are encouraged to find their passion by immersing themselves in over thirty clubs and activities, including Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Dance Team, and even Martial Arts. The Viking sports teams provide the chance for students to showcase their special athletic talents throughout the fall, winter, and spring. In all of these prospects, students are given the chance to develop as leaders among their peers in the nurturing air of camaraderie and common purpose. We encourage students to “Leave your mark at St. Elizabeth High School!”
The time spent at SEHS is instrumental in preparing students for their future. Our mission is to develop young men and women capable of success and achievement in life. Viking graduates are academically prepared for higher education institutions, possess a sense of service and genuine concern for others, and abide by ethical codes that reflect the morals of a Christ-centered campus.
The best way to experience St. Elizabeth High School is to come see for yourself! Please check our calendar for upcoming high school events; tours are given daily by appointment. Our “Viking for a Day” program allows potential 8th grade applicants to shadow a current Viking through an entire day at St. E – classes, lunch, touring the campus, clubs/activities, and participating in the day’s events. I invite you to get to know St. Elizabeth High School.
I hope that you will consider becoming a member of the SEHS community. I look forward to aiding you in your high school search during your decision making process. If I can be of any service, please contact me. Best wishes!
Sincerely,
Matthew M. Haney ‘03
