Athletic
Program
The sports program at St.
Elizabeth's aims to achieve these
goals:
1) To develop an
individual's physical fitness
through the mastering of physical
skills and the building of strength,
coordination and endurance.
2) To develop self-reliance and
maturity.
3) To broaden social experiences
which will result in personal growth
and understanding of good
sportsmanship practices in a setting
of healthy competition.
All students at St. Elizabeth High
School who meet athletic eligibility
requirements of the State of
Delaware and who are in good
disciplinary and academic standing
at St. Elizabeth's are eligible for
participation in the program of
interscholastic athletics. A member
of the coaching staff in an attempt
to make athletes more aware of the
importance of their education will
interview athletes encountering
academic difficulties. A personal
study period with a member of the
staff may be required to continue
competing in sports programs. St.
Elizabeth's programs abide by the
scholarship codes established by the
ruling authority established in
Delaware for scholastic sports.
Students are ineligible to
participate in extracurricular
activities - whether practices or
events - unless they are in school
for at least a half day. This means
they must be present in class from
break until the end of the day.
Attending the afternoon session of
school does not constitute a half
day present.
Students should remember that our
opponents are our guests and should
be treated with hospitality and
respect. Derogatory remarks and
other demonstrations of poor
sportsmanship are not appropriate
and are inconsistent with the
legendary Viking spirit.
