NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Members, 2008 - 2009

Membership to the National Honor Society is closed until the 2008 - 2009 school year.

Junior and senior students who have maintained a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better become eligible scholastically for the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. A high GPA does not guarantee consideration or membership. Students will also be judged on leadership qualities, character traits, service to others, positive attitude, good citizenship in the school and outside community and by demonstration of a high standard of values indicative of those embodied in the teachings of St. Elizabeth High School.

NHS (and Student Leadership Group) members are expected to follow all school rules and be positive role models for the other students. For this reason, there is a discipline policy both for admission into the NHS and for continued membership.

In order to be eligible for acceptance into NHS, students may have no more that two demerits for the year at the time of induction. To maintain membership, no more than a total of four demerits are allowed in a single year. A warning letter is sent upon receipt of the third demerit, and dismissal from NHS would occur upon receipt of a fifth demerit.
