Academic Honor Policy and Academic Honor Code

The Academic Council has developed the following policy:

Academic honesty is essential to the development of personal integrity and the fulfillment of the school goal striving to have “students… grow in the knowledge and the practice of Gospel values.” In order to stress the importance of such honesty and to aid in the fulfillment of our goal the following Honor Policy has been established.

Part I: Academic Honor Code

The student will not:

  • Use or attempt to use unauthorized material, information, notes or study aids.
  • Obtain unauthorized assistance from any source.
  • Falsify or invent information to be used as a resource.
  • Work with another person without the teacher’s permission.
  • Present as his/her own the words, ideas or works of another.
  • Give unauthorized help in any form to another student.
  • Enable others to violate the Honor Code.
  • Violate academic honesty in any other way.

Faculty Pledge:
I promise to actively promote student honesty by explaining the importance of academic honesty, maintaining vigilance, keeping test materials secure and varied, and assessing penalties as prescribed in the Honor Policy.

Honor Board:
The Honor Board will by composed of three faculty and two student members.

Student Pledge:
I accept and promise to uphold the St. Elizabeth Academic Honor Policy by being honest myself and encouraging others to do the same. I will strive to adhere to the philosophy of St. Elizabeth High School , which calls students to make “wise and correct” moral decisions. I have read the Honor Policy and the Penalties for Violations. I understand and accept the consequences for failure to abide by the provisions of the policy.

Parent Pledge:

I will support St. Elizabeth High School in its goal of helping students to grow in moral values by encouraging academic honesty in my child. I have read the Honor Policy and the Penalties for Violations. I understand and accept the consequences for failure to abide by the provisions of the policy.
