For the things of this world cannot be made known without a knowledge of mathematics. “
Roger Bacon

The mathematics department seeks to prepare St. Elizabeth High School students with a solid mathematical foundation by clearly and effectively presenting mathematical concepts so that all students may attain success.

Recognizing the broad range of ability levels as students enter high school, the mathematics department offers academic, honors, and AP level courses.  Beginning in freshmen year, students are taught to recognize mathematical patterns and concepts to improve problem solving skills and to apply these skills to real world situations.  As they continue their study through sophomore, junior, and senior years, students are encouraged to make connections to more complex problem solving skills.

All math classrooms are equipped with the latest Smart Board technology.  Students are also trained in the use of graphing calculators and have opportunity to utilize computer software relating to their course of study.   The ultimate goal of the department is for students to strive for excellence in mathematics to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
