SCHOOL PROFILE 

St. Elizabeth High School – Committed to the preparation of young men and women for college and for lifelong learning in a community in which religious truth and values are central to the school program

St. Elizabeth High School is a Catholic, college preparatory, coeducational, secondary school founded in 1940 which operates under the auspices of the Diocese of Wilmington. Accredited by the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools, St. Elizabeth High School is a charter member of the Delaware Association of Independent Schools. The St. Elizabeth High School population comprises students from suburban areas of Wilmington (75%), from the city of Wilmington (17%), and from rural, small towns or neighboring states (8%). The composition of the student body shows a 12% minority presence. Many students are first generation college applicants: approximately 30% of parents hold post-secondary degrees, 20% bachelors or advanced degrees, and 10% associate degrees.

Course Levels
Courses are taught at different levels in an attempt to meet the differing needs of individual students. Level 4 denotes AP courses; Level 3 denotes Honors courses, French I, II, III, IV, and Spanish IV; Level 2 denotes Pre-calculus, Programming, Chemistry A, Physics, and Spanish III; Level 1 denotes all regular college prep courses.

Credit Requirements
The total number of credits required for graduation is 25.3. A credit is equivalent to 36 weeks of work, 6 periods in a 7 day cycle, under the supervision of a teacher. Social Studies credit is given for World Religions and Social Justice courses.*

Semester Exams
Final exams count fifteen percent of a student's second semester grades.

Class Rank
Rank is computed on a weighted 4.0 quality point scale. Points for level 1 are not weighted (A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1; F=0). Points for all other levels are weighted according to the scale below.
