PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Dear Friends,

Welcome to St. Elizabeth High School!

Since our founding by Monsignor James M. Grant in 1940, St. Elizabeth High School has been a visible, secondary school presence in the City of Wilmington, offering a quality Catholic education to over 6,000 graduates. Now in our sixth decade, our commitment to excellence is seen in academics and athletics, our campus ministry activities and community service opportunities as well as in a wide range of co-curricular activities that are designed to develop young men and women prepared to become faith-filled, responsible citizens of the new millennium.

On behalf of the faculty, administration and students, I welcome visitors to our website and to our St. E Community. We offer our Viking spirit and Benedictine hospitality as you explore the many academic and faith-filled opportunities of St. Elizabeth High School. Our mission is focused on graduating young men and women who, through our rigorous yet nurturing training, will reflect our ideals of intellectual competence, openness to growth, faithfulness to our Benedictine heritage and traditions, loving and active participants in a lifelong commitment to service.

I believe that your virtual visit will reveal the essence of our identity here at St. E’s and I am confident that a visit to our vibrant campus will confirm the warmth and spirit of a very special place. For us, the word ‘hospitality’ isn’t just a pleasant word in our Benedictine heritage, it is a quality exemplified through the routine actions and interactions of our students and faculty. It is a something we live each day. Our school values academic endeavors and encourages students to become active learners throughout their high school careers here. Our small size provides security and familiarity while our academic and spiritual programs expand and respond to the changing needs of students as they prepare for a successful transition to college and career.

At the core of St. E’s existence is the sense of family and Viking Spirit that sets it apart by pride, honor and enthusiasm. As you come to know us, it will be easy to understand the strong support of our alumni, the presence of multi-generation families who call St. E’s home and the numerous graduates who have returned here to teach.

I look forward to meeting you in person when you visit St. E’s in the near future.

Sincerely,

Shirley Bounds
Principal
